Electro Stim

62 products

Electro-stimulation (e-stim) sends gentle electrical pulses through pads, loops, probes or sounds, for sensations from a soft tingle to a strong, rhythmic pulse. Start with a starter kit: a power unit with self-adhesive pads and adjustable intensity. Keep e-stim below the waist. Our guide to choosing a setup, conductive gel and safe play is below the products.

About Electro Stim

E-stim toys use small, controlled electrical pulses to make the skin and muscles tingle, tap or contract. You set the intensity and the pattern, so the same kit can feel teasing one moment and intense the next. This guide explains how the pieces fit together, what to buy first and how to play safely.

How e-stim works

Most setups have two parts: a power unit (also called a stimulator or control box) that creates the pulses, and electrodes that carry them to the body. Current flows between two contact points, so every setup needs a complete circuit:

  • A uni-polar electrode, such as a single pad, loop or pinwheel, needs a second electrode to complete the circuit.
  • A bi-polar electrode carries both contacts, so it works on its own.

Contact area changes the feel. The same setting feels more intense through a small contact point than a large pad.

Types of e-stim toys

Power units and starter kits

A starter kit pairs a power unit with self-adhesive pads, so you can try e-stim straight out of the box. The ElectraStim KIX is a pocket-sized, USB-rechargeable single-output unit. It includes pads, and its colour display replaces number levels, which suits beginners. The Mystim Pure Vibes eStim Kit has two independently adjustable channels, three programs and four self-adhesive electrodes. A dual-channel unit lets you run two zones at different strengths.

Electrode attachments

Pads, cock loops, probes, sounds and shields plug into a power unit. Check that the connector fits your unit before you buy. The easiest way is to stay within one brand; see our ElectraStim and Mystim ranges.

All-in-one e-stim vibrators

Some vibrators have e-stim built in, so there is no separate box or cables.

Remote-controlled e-stim toys

Bullets, wands and plugs with a wireless remote let a partner change the setting from across the room.

Neon wands

Neon or violet wands work differently. They pass static electricity across the surface of the skin through glowing glass attachments, which creates a crackling tingle or a sharp, focused sting.

How to choose your first setup

  • Starter kit or power unit plus accessories: a kit with pads is the simplest start. Add loops, probes or other attachments later.
  • Channels: single-output units are simpler. Dual-channel units give more control for couples play or two zones.
  • Programs: built-in patterns do the work for you. Units with adjustable pulse settings let you fine-tune the feel.
  • Power: rechargeable units save batteries. Battery units are easy to swap and carry.
  • Extras: budget for conductive gel and spare pads, because pads lose their stick over time.

Safety first

E-stim needs a few firm rules. Always read the instructions that come with your unit.

  • Below the waist only. Never place electrodes on or across the chest, near the heart, or on the head or neck.
  • Heart conditions, pacemakers and pregnancy: don't use e-stim if you have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, or a heart condition, unless your doctor has cleared it. Don't use it during pregnancy.
  • Start at zero. Turn the intensity all the way down before you connect anything, then raise it slowly. Turn it down before you move or remove an electrode.
  • Healthy skin only. Don't place electrodes on broken, irritated or numb skin.
  • Use proper equipment. Only use devices made for e-stim play. Never improvise with other electrical devices or mains power.
  • Keep it dry. Keep the power unit and cables away from water.
  • Stop if it hurts. Sharp or burning pain means the setting is too high or the contact is poor.

Conductive gel and lube

Good contact is the difference between a smooth sensation and a prickly one. A thin layer of conductive gel on pads, loops and external electrodes gives even contact. Some makers also allow a water-based lube, especially on insertable probes. Follow the recommendation for each accessory.

Care and cleaning

Wipe or wash electrodes and insertable accessories with warm water and a mild soap or toy cleaner after each use, then dry them fully. Never get the power unit wet. Store self-adhesive pads on their backing sheet and replace them when they stop sticking. Check cables and connectors for damage before every session. Our toy cleaners and storage collection keeps a kit clean and together.

Frequently asked questions

What does e-stim feel like?

At low settings, a light tingle or tickle. Higher up, a tapping, pulsing or squeezing sensation as the muscles contract. You control the intensity at every step.

Does e-stim hurt?

It shouldn't, unless you want some bite. Start at zero and turn it up slowly. Sharp or burning pain means you should turn it down and check the contact.

Is e-stim dangerous?

It can be if it is used carelessly, which is why the rules above matter. Keep it below the waist, use equipment made for e-stim, and don't use it with a pacemaker, a heart condition or during pregnancy without medical advice.

Can I mix accessories from different brands?

Sometimes. It depends on the connector. Staying within one brand is the simplest way to be sure things fit.

What is the difference between e-stim and a neon wand?

E-stim sends pulses between electrodes, often through muscle. A neon wand sparks static electricity across the skin surface.
